Question

I’m pregnant. How do i stop my baby getting sick?

I’m 2 months pregnant and HIV positive. What do I do to keep my baby from getting sick?

Answer

Hi,

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

The best way to protect your baby is to take HIV treatment. If you are not already on it you should talk to the clinic about starting. You being on HIV treatment will protect the baby while you are pregnant and during birth. It is also good for you!

Do let you clinic know that you are planning this. They can help you with information about how to do so.

You can find lots of information about HIV and pregnancy, and how to make sure your baby is HIV negative in our online guide.
