Q and A

Question

Can I change when I take my meds?

I’ve been taking Triumeq for four months with no side effects and my viral load is undetectable. I currently take it at 8:30 pm but I want to start taking it at 10 am. Is this ok and if so how should I manage the change over.

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

Its perfectly fine for you to change the time of day that you take your meds. What’s important is that you take them, and that your adherence is good.

How you do the change is up to you. However, I would suggest having the meds the following morning, so after the 8.30 pm dose, and not wait until the day after.

Hi Charlotte, yes you can start this evening. You do not need to wait before you switch the time of your treatment.

    Hi Marisol,

You should take your meds at a time that works for you. However, if they contain efavirenz then its recommended to take them at night.

    Hi Nokwazi,

Meds need to be taken every 24hrs. Therefore, you should try and take them at the same time every day.
