Q and A

Question

My viral load is nearly 30,000, is my partner at risk?

My viral load is 28,000, can I transmit HIV?

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

For there not to be a risk, your viral load needs to be less than 50. If you were to have sex without a condom you risk transmitting HIV to your partner.

Being on medication will help reduce your viral load.

    Hi Ken.

If once a person’s viral load becomes undetectable they cannot transmit HIV when having sex without a condom. Please see here: http://i-base.info/u-equals-u/
