Can cold sores affect an HIV test result?

I had a an HIV-1/2 antibody test in Mar 06 and I had a coldsore or coldsores at the time. Could this have affected my test result? I got a negative result and I am now questioning it? Am I being proper stupid?

Answer

Cold sores would not affect the result. If it was negative then, and you have not had any other exposures since, then you are negative now.
