Question

Different genotypes – did we infect each other?

If my partner and I have different HIV genotypes, does that mean we did not get it from each other?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

Usually if a couple get HIV from each other then the genotypes of the virus are the same or very similar. If your genotypes are different then it is likely you did not get the infection from each other.
