Question

I have pain in my arms and I'm not on meds

I was infected 20 months ago – but have not started meds as my CD4 count is 450.

However, I am suffering terrible nerve pain in my arms every day which is really affecting my quality of life.

I am reluctant to start meds until i need to, but the pain is difficult.

Would starting meds reduce the pain?

Answer

You need to see a doctor whenever you have any symptom that gives you pain. This can be your GP or your HIV doctor.

Until you get an answer as to what is causing it, you cannot think about any treatment, HIV or otherwise.

Do not continue putting up with the pain. Seek medical advice and ask for appropriate referrals to a specialist if your doctor does not know the cause.
