This stand for nucleoside or nucleotide reverse-transcriptase inhibitor.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A third drug from a different HIV drug class. This will be an integrase inhibitor,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>NNRTI (a non-nucleoside reverse- transcriptase inhibitor), or a boosted protease inhibitor (PI).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The NRTIs are most likely to be tenofovir and emtricitabine (FTC).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The third drug is likely to be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>efavirenz or rilpivirine (an NNRTI),<\/li>\n<li>dolutegravir or raltegravir (an integrase inhibitor) or<\/li>\n<li>atazanavir or darunavir boosted with ritonavir (a boosted-PI).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>UK guidelines recommend efavirenz or boosted atazanavir.<\/p>\n<p>There is always limited information about safety on some of the newer HIV drugs.<\/p>\n<p>Some drugs, combinations or schedules are not recommended in pregnancy.
