The PDF booklet is an 8-page summary with QR code links to the online sections.<\/p>\n<p>The information covers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When you might need to change ART.<\/li>\n<li>Why you might need to change ART.<\/li>\n<li>Which tests are used and what the results mean.<\/li>\n<li>How to choose your next meds.<\/li>\n<li>How to make sure the next treatment will work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It also includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drug resistance.<\/li>\n<li>New drugs and other research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This 17th edition has been revised and updated throughout.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ART in the UK is now very effective. Only about 1 in 20 people (5%) need to change their first treatment because it does not work.<\/li>\n<li>Also, less than 1 in 20 people (5%) who are on stable treatment need to change each year due to resistance.<\/li>\n<li>Even with drug resistance, most people still have new drugs that will work.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"i-base.info\/guides\/15358\">Lenacapavir<\/a> is a 6-monthly injection that is also available for emergency use. This is only if you have extensive drug resistance. Lenacapavir needs to be used with other active meds.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"i-base.info\/guides\/15343\">Fostemsavir<\/a> and <a href=\"i-base.info\/guides\/14466\">ibalizumab<\/a> can be used if you have drug resistance to all other classes.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/htb\/49783\">Other pipeline drugs<\/a> are being developed that can overcome resistance to current HIV meds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This online guide includes detailed information.<\/p>\n<p>A related printed leaflet just includes a summary with links to the website.<\/p>\n<p>The information is based on choices in the UK, Europe and the US.<\/p>\n<p>Information is based on treatment guidelines at this link:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.i-base.info\/treatment-guidelines\">i-base.info\/treatment-guidelines<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Although choices will be more limited in many other countries, the approach will still be similar.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Changes to this edition<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The main changes are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Updated information about the latest drugs and about ongoing research.<\/li>\n<li>New information about the WHO guidelines for people living in low- and middle-income countries.<\/li>\n<li>Information is included about <a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/15361\">long-acting injectable ART<\/a>.
