{"id":282,"date":"2024-11-01T12:00:38","date_gmt":"2024-11-01T12:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/new\/guides\/?page_id=282"},"modified":"2025-01-20T15:17:40","modified_gmt":"2025-01-20T15:17:40","slug":"two-drug-art","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/starting\/two-drug-art","title":{"rendered":"Two-drug ART"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/14379\"><strong>Dovato<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Dovato is a two-drug combination of <a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/8851\">dolutegravir<\/a> plus lamivudine in a single tablet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is the only two-drug combination for as first-line ART in the 2022 UK guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>It can also be used as a switch combination so long as there is no history of resistance to either of the two drugs.<\/p>\n<p>This combination is approved and recommended for first ART based on results showing it works just as well as using three drugs.<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/15361\">Cabotegravir and rilpivirine long-acting injections: <\/a><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Long-acting injections are now available in the UK.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>They are not yet recommended as a first combination.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Long-acting injections of cabotegravir and rilpivirine are only recommended as a switch option once viral load has been undetectable on oral ART for at least six months.<\/p>\n<p>UK guidelines include other recommendations for when injectable ART can be used.
