In the UK you can usually test at any sexual health or GUM (genito-urinary medicine) clinic. This can be anonymous. You can test at your GP.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During COVID-19, many HIV and STI tests involved a self-sampling kit being sent to you by post.<\/p>\n

Sexual health or GUM clinics often offer more information on HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).<\/p>\n

Community testing sites<\/h2>\n

Several HIV organisations provide\u00a0HIV testing in community venues.<\/p>\n

The Terrence Higgins Trust <\/a>(THT) also have testing centres around the UK.<\/p>\n

Postive East<\/a> offer free rapid HIV tests in many sites in East London. There is no need to make an appointment.

Home testing<\/h2>\n

There are also several ways to have an HIV test at home. This includes:<\/p>\n

  1. Self tests use a pinprick blood sample. You get the result yourself after about 15 minutes.<\/li>\n
  2. Self sample tests. This is where you take your own sample and post it to a lab. These can use a mouth swab or a pinprick blood sample.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
