{"id":5912,"date":"2013-05-03T12:00:50","date_gmt":"2013-05-03T12:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/?p=5912"},"modified":"2022-01-05T14:19:06","modified_gmt":"2022-01-05T14:19:06","slug":"eviplera-rilpivirine-tenofovir-ftc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/5912","title":{"rendered":"Eviplera (rilpivirine + tenofovir + FTC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5915\" title=\"Eviplera\" src=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/files\/2011\/12\/Eviplera-150x85.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"87\" height=\"50\" \/><br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<em>EV-ee-pleer-a<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eviplea is the European tradename for a fixed dose combination of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/5904\">rilpivirine<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\".\/3541\">tenofovir<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\".\/3535\">FTC<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In the US Eviplera is called Complera.<\/li>\n<li>Standard adult\u00a0dose:\u00a01 pill once-daily (not approved for people younger than 18 years old).<\/li>\n<li>Take with a meal &#8211; at least 400 kcal. Absorption of rilpivirine is reduced by 40% if taken without food. A protein shake is not suitable. The food requirement was originally 530 kcal but this was recently reduced for the combined formulation of rilpivirine. These include\u00a0depressive disorders (depressed mood, depression, mood altered, negative thoughts, suicide attempt, suicidal ideation),\u00a0rash, nausea, liver problems.<\/li>\n<li>Other notes: Eviplera is currently only approved for use in combinations in people starting treatment for the first time (treatment-naive) who have a viral load that is less than 100,000 copies\/mL<\/li>\n<li>Resistance to rilpivirine in Eviplera is closely linked to less than perfect adherence.<\/li>\n<li>Resistance to rilpivirine is likely to result in resistance to other NNRTIs including nevirapine or efavirenz.
