It is similar to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/3557\">ritonavir<\/a>\u00a0in the way it boosts drugs. Unlike ritonavir, cobicistat does not directly work against HIV.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cobicistat was approved in Europe in September 2013<\/li>\n<li>It can be used to boost either <a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/3545\">atazanavir<\/a> (300 mg once-daily dose) or <a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/3555\">darunavir<\/a> (800 mg once-daily dose).<\/li>\n<li>It is not approved to boost other protease inhibitors.<\/li>\n<li>Cobicistat is dosed at 1 x 150 mg tablet once-daily.<\/li>\n<li>Cobicistat can interact with a wide range of other HIV drugs and non-HIV drugs, including supplements and over-the-counter medicines.
