Powderly<br \/>\n<\/strong>from Medscape HIV\/AIDS<\/p>\n<p>The annual meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) is increasingly associated with high-quality reviews by experts in the field. However, it is less likely to be associated with a large number of novel HIV-related abstracts because of the competition from other HIV-related scientific meetings in the summer and fall.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, a number of interesting and important observations could be gleaned from information presented at this year\u2019s meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cardiovascular risk and HIV disease<\/li>\n<li>Treatment of HIV-associated hyperlipidemia<\/li>\n<li>Multiple protease inhibitors as salvage therapy<\/li>\n<li>Resistance testing in treatment-naive, chronically infected patients<\/li>\n<li>Predicting CD4+ cell count in resource-limited countries<\/li>\n<li>Clinical indicators of chronic renal failure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Full text at:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.medscape.com\/viewarticle\/444549\">http:\/\/www.medscape.com\/viewarticle\/444549<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>24-27 October 2002, Chicago, Illinois William G.
