{"id":20312,"date":"2012-10-01T12:04:06","date_gmt":"2012-10-01T12:04:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/i-base.info\/htb\/?p=20312"},"modified":"2012-12-07T15:18:03","modified_gmt":"2012-12-07T15:18:03","slug":"free-hiv-treatment-in-the-uk-for-all-irrespective-of-resisdency-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/i-base.info\/htb\/20312","title":{"rendered":"Free HIV treatment in the UK for all, irrespective of residency status"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UK Department of Health<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>From 1 October 2012, an amendment to the NHS (Charges to Overseas Visitors) Regulations means that HIV treatment will no longer chargeable to any overseas visitor.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This guidance sets out:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The background to the policy change.<\/li>\n<li>Definitions of HIV treatment and care.<\/li>\n<li>Prescribing of antiretroviral therapies.<\/li>\n<li>The role of the Overseas Visitor Manager.<\/li>\n<li>How the Department of Health will monitor the change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>HIV often presents with other healthcare needs that may be chargeable unless they too are exempt from NHS charge. This guidance supports implementation of the change in England.<\/p>\n<p><strong>comment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>These changes take immediate effect and should be widely publicised.
