\"\"This bumper summer issue of HTB largely reports from three important medical meetings.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 7th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention took place in Kuala Lumpur at the beginning of July. We include reports on the 2013 WHO guidelines, use of lower dose efavirenz (400 mg), dolutegravir, Stribild and several small NRTI-sparing studies. Cure research had a high profile with two new possible “cure” cases plus other studies. We include a report on the role of partner-dependent immune responses on HIV transmission and on the potential for generic versions of pipeline HCV drugs.<\/p>\n

News from the 5th International Workshop on HIV Pediatrics includes the all time lowest level reported for vertical transmission of 0.46% in 2010.<\/p>\n

And reports from the International Workshop on HIV and Hepatitis Virus Drug Resistance and Curative Strategies include important data on tenofovir alafenamide (TAF), dolutegravir and S\/GSK744.<\/p>\n

Treatment Access includes the good news that UNITAID has committed to help end the use of d4T. Less good, that Gilead might not develop TAF in a stand-alone version.<\/p>\n

\"\"HTB SUPPLEMENT: i-Base\/TAG Pipeline Report<\/h2>\n

In July we distributed by email and posted online the 2013 edition of the i-Base\/TAG pipeline report. A limited print edition of this comprehensive review was distributed at the IAS 2013.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Within two days, 1000 books and 1000 flash-drive editions were picked up by delegates. However, running at 260 pages, it is unfortunately not practical to print this in the UK.<\/p>\n

The report includes chapters on the adult and paediatric ARV pipelines, treatment optimisation, cure research and immune-based therapies, vaccine development, new drugs for hepatitis C, tuberculosis treatment diagnostics and vaccines.<\/p>\n
