{"id":25825,"date":"2014-05-27T12:01:55","date_gmt":"2014-05-27T12:01:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/i-base.info\/htb\/?p=25825"},"modified":"2014-05-28T09:32:27","modified_gmt":"2014-05-28T09:32:27","slug":"scotland-agrees-to-free-hiv-treatment-regardless-of-residency-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/i-base.info\/htb\/25825","title":{"rendered":"Scotland agrees to free HIV treatment, regardless of residency status"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NAT press statement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Changes to the NHS in Scotland now mean that HIV will be exempt from charging rules, irrespective of residency status.<\/strong> [1]<\/p>\n<p>This brings HIV treatment inline with TB, sexual health services (including HIV testing) and infectious diseases.<\/p>\n<p>Similar changes were introduced in England in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Yusef Azad, director of policy and campaigns at National AIDS Trust, said: &#8220;This change will ensure destitute asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants are able to get the essential healthcare needed while living in Scotland.
