Global Fund Observer<\/strong><\/p>\n

The number of people receiving antiretroviral therapy through programmes supported by the Global Fund reached an estimated 7.3 million by the end of 2014, a 20% increase over a year earlier.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A total 450 million insecticide-treated nets to prevent malaria were distributed, up 25% over 2013’s total of 360 million.<\/p>\n

The number of TB cases detected and treated rose from 11.2 million a year ago to 12.3 million at the end of 2014, a 9% increase.<\/p>\n

Other key results numbers announced by the Fund on World AIDS Day, 1 December, show year-on-year increases ranging from 4% to 38% (See Table1). [1]<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

In a news release accompanying the announcement of the results, the Global Fund said that the numbers “show significant movement towards common milestones in HIV response, articulated well in a study recently released by UNAIDS that calls for fast-tracking the HIV response to end the epidemic by 2030.”<\/p>\n

The news release also noted the accelerated efforts against malaria and progress in the response to TB.<\/p>\n
