{"id":30663,"date":"2016-10-01T09:05:03","date_gmt":"2016-10-01T09:05:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/i-base.info\/htb\/?p=30663"},"modified":"2016-10-03T17:03:07","modified_gmt":"2016-10-03T17:03:07","slug":"us-dhhs-guidelines-updated-july-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/i-base.info\/htb\/30663","title":{"rendered":"US DHHS guidelines updated (July 2016)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Simon Collins, HIV i-Base<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The leading US DHHS treatment guidelines were updated in July 2016.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Main changes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Updated to include new drugs and formulations, all with TAF instead of TDF.<\/li>\n<li>In general, TAF is recommended whenever TDF is recommended.<\/li>\n<li>Small changes include references to universal use of resistance tests before starting ART. This is based on 10-17% of new diagnoses in the US including resistance to at least one drug. ART should not be delayed while waiting for the results of these tests.<br \/>\nTesting for integrase inhibitor resistance is not needed in most circumstances.<\/li>\n<li>The guidelines note that a new commercial test (GenoSure) is available to test cell-associate HIV DNA (ie for people with undetectable viral load) but that there is insufficient data to recommend use.
