The Liverpool University drug interaction website now includes the following updates.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

New antiretroviral: albuvirtide<\/span><\/h2>\n

The long-acting fusion inhibitor albuvirtide\u00a0(Aikening) to the interaction checker.\u00a0Albuvirtide is administered once weekly by intravenous infusion\u00a0and has marketing approval to treat HIV in China. In is also being used in research studies in the US.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

New comedications<\/span><\/h2>\n

Based on user suggestions the following drugs have been added to the interaction checker:<\/span><\/p>\n

Minaxolone<\/span><\/b>\u00a0(Anaesthetics and Muscle Relaxants)<\/span><\/p>\n

Comedication name changes<\/span><\/h2>\n

Some alternative\/older names have been added that have\u00a0another name\u00a0in use in certain countries. You will now be able to find these drugs by searching for the alternative name, in addition to the name commonly in use in the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n

Methotrexate changed to\u00a0Methotrexate (Amethopterin)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Clomipramine changed to\u00a0Clomipramine (Chlorimipramine)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Bupropion changed to\u00a0Bupropion (Amfebutamone)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Clarification of interactions with vitamins<\/span><\/h2>\n

Finally, some of the names of comedications in the supplements class have been changed to make it clearer whether or not the interaction is due to a component of a multivitamin. The following vitamins can now be selected either as a single vitamin supplement or as part of a multivitamin:<\/span><\/p>\n

Ascorbic acid\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Vitamin C),\u00a0<\/span>Colecalciferol\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Vitamin D3),\u00a0<\/span>Cyanocobalamin\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Vitamin B12),\u00a0<\/span>Folic acid,\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Iodine,\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Nicotinamide\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Niacinamide),\u00a0<\/span>Phytomenadione\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Vitamin K),\u00a0<\/span>Pyridoxine\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Vitamin B6),\u00a0<\/span>Retinol\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Vitamin A),\u00a0<\/span>Riboflavin\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Vitamin B2),\u00a0<\/span>Thiamine\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Vitamin B1),\u00a0<\/span>Tocopherol\u00a0<\/span><\/b>(Vitamin E).<\/span><\/p>\n
