{"id":4331,"date":"2001-05-17T21:47:01","date_gmt":"2001-05-17T20:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/moomango.co.uk\/htb\/?p=4331"},"modified":"2014-06-12T13:46:24","modified_gmt":"2014-06-12T13:46:24","slug":"haart-lowers-cin-recurrence-risk-in-hiv-infected-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/i-base.info\/htb\/4331","title":{"rendered":"HAART lowers CIN recurrence risk in HIV-positive women"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) lowers the risk of recurrence, persistence, and progression of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) after standard treatment in HIV-positive women, according to a report published in the March issue of the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. William R. Robinson from Harrington Cancer Center in Amarillo, Texas and colleagues compared the clinical outcomes of 56 HIV-positive\u00a0women with CIN to those of 62 similar women without HIV infection.<\/p>\n<p>Persistent or recurrent and progressive CIN after excisional therapy was significantly more common among HIV-positive\u00a0women than among HIV-negative women, the authors state.<\/p>\n<p>In the HIV-positive\u00a0group, low CD4+ cell count and margin involvement of loop excision specimens were risk factors for recurrence.
