Trustee

HIV i-Base is seeking one, or perhaps two Trustees to join our small Board and help shape the next phase of this distinctive organisation.

Founded in 2000, i-Base has been at the forefront of HIV treatment information and activism for over 25 years. We have built a strong reputation for translating complex HIV science into clear, accessible information, supporting people living with HIV to be informed about their treatment, and bringing community perspectives into research and policy.

Our resources have reached people and clinics across the UK and internationally, with more than a million free booklets and leaflets distributed over our history.

i-Base remains independent and distinctive: our focus is treatment information, treatment activism and the meaningful involvement of people living with HIV.

We are looking for one or perhaps two people who understands and values what makes i-Base different from other HIV charities, and who wants to help protect and develop that role in a changing HIV landscape.

You will need to bring sound judgement, strategic thinking and constructive challenge to the Board. Experience of charity governance would be particularly valuable, as would experience in HIV, healthcare, patient involvement, advocacy, finance, fundraising or organisational development. However, we are primarily interested in the perspective, skills and commitment you would bring.

This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of an organisation with a remarkable history and a distinctive voice in the HIV sector.

The role is voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.

The main time commitment is to attend Trustee meetings which are held virtually four times a year and usually last two hours, plus time for any supportive follow-up between meetings, if needed.

2. New members of our community advisory group

i-Base is also looking for a diverse range of activists who have time to advise on a range of resources, projects and publications.

Although we have limited funding, compensation for your time and experience will be covered by an honorarium for some projects.

Most work will be able to be done by email discussions and by individual or group virtual meetings if there is a preference for this. As physical meetings are unlikely, we hope that people will be interested from across the UK.

The main specifications involve having an interest in HIV treatment, and wanting to help.

At a guess this might involve 1-2 hours per month.

Applications are welcomed from all UK-CAB members.

Help support i-Base HIV i-Base is looking for people who would like to help the project as either a Trustee or by joining a general advisory group.
