{"id":714,"date":"2008-06-12T19:00:10","date_gmt":"2008-06-12T18:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/new\/htb\/?p=714"},"modified":"2013-08-28T08:25:41","modified_gmt":"2013-08-28T08:25:41","slug":"draft-bhiva-treatment-guidelines-online-for-comment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/i-base.info\/htb\/714","title":{"rendered":"Draft BHIVA treatment guidelines online for comment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The working draft of the 2008 BHIVA Guidelines have been posted online for comment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The draft has been revised to incorporate new information from peer-reviewed publications and conference abstracts from the last 2 years (including CROI 2008).<\/p>\n<p>These reviews are important and set a minimum standard and guidance for patients, doctors, healthcare workers and commissioners.<\/p>\n<p>Proposed changes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>starting treatment at a higher CD4 count (between 200-350, rather than \u0091before dropping below 200\u0092)<\/li>\n<li>recommending one preferred first-line regimen: efavirenz\/tenofovir\/FTC<\/li>\n<li>recommending tenofovir\/FTC over abacavir\/3TC based on results from D:A:D and ACTG 5142.<\/li>\n<li>a proposal to consider prescribing treatment based on a country someone may be returned to (in the case of asylum seekers)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is still a working document, and the final guidelines will be prepared for publication later this year.<\/p>\n<p>The consultation period is open until 16 May 2008.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bhiva.org\/cms1222226.asp\">Comments can be made online<\/a> and by email <a href=\"mailto:bhiva@bhiva.org\">bhiva@bhiva.org<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The working draft of the 2008 BHIVA Guidelines have been posted online for comment.
