{"id":10133,"date":"2014-09-10T13:17:35","date_gmt":"2014-09-10T13:17:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/i-base.info\/qa\/?p=10133"},"modified":"2024-10-14T09:18:46","modified_gmt":"2024-10-14T09:18:46","slug":"can-i-use-odimune-as-pep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/i-base.info\/qa\/10133","title":{"rendered":"Can I use Odimune as PEP?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi<\/p>\n<p>Using HIV meds after an exposure is called <a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/testing\/pep-pepse-and-prep\">PEP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the UK <a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/1561\">Odimune<\/a> (or the equivalent called <a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/1561\">Atripla<\/a>) is not recommended for PEP.<\/p>\n<p>This is because <a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/734\">efavirenz<\/a> which is one of the drugs in Odimune is not recommended in HIV negative people.<\/p>\n<p>One option would be to switch to tenofovir\/FTC &#8211; just using the two other drugs in Odimune.<\/p>\n<p>Please talk to the doctor who prescribed this, or to the pharmacist, if you were able to by this without a prescription.<\/p>\n<p>More information about <a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/side\/cns-side-effects\">efavirenz side effects<\/a> &#8211; they usually should get better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> A condom broke during intercourse, now for safety measures I bought Odimune tablets and started taking them just to be on the safer side.
