Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines prevent COVID-19 symptoms in about 95% of people.\u00a0They also prevent severe COVID-19 and might help stop transmission.<\/p>\n<p>The Oxford vaccine is expected to be at least 70% effective.<\/p>\n<p>All these vaccines are much better than first thought possible. At the start of the pandemic \u00a0the target for an effective vaccine was set at 50%.
