The likelihood of HIV transmission depends on many different things such as, whether you are on HIV treatment, if your viral load is undetectable, if either of you has a STIs or have had STIs such as herpes in the last 4 weeks and many other things. This makes it difficult to give you the definite answer you need. You are absolutely doing the right thing by encouraging your partner to take a HIV test.<\/p>\n

The likelihood of transmission with such a short time of unprotected sex is low. I answered a similar question recently about the rate of transmission through unprotected oral sex<\/a> which may be of use to you.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a male and HIV positive. I recently tested HIV positive. Before I knew I was positive I had un-protected sex with another male. He inserted his penis in me for a split second and then withdrew. He put on a condom then and continued with anal sex. I penetrated him also, but always had a condom on. I didn\u2019t ejaculate. Is there a chance that I could have passed on the virus to him? He is going to get tested but has to wait a few weeks for an appointment.<\/p>\n

Is it as likely that the virus can be transmitted from the passive partner to the active partner during anal sex, would it need more time than just one penetration that lasted for no longer than a few seconds? Is the virus transmittable during oral sex? He did give me oral sex and again I never ejaculated, could I have passed on the virus. I never seem to have pre-cum or at least obvious amounts. I know the only way to know for sure is if he gets tested but I\u2019m concerned and the wait is killing me.
