The higher the viral load the more risk of transmission.<\/p>\n<p>It can take up to 3 months for viral load to become undetectable, in most people it only takes a month. This is called <a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/u-equals-u\/\">U=U<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When undetectable, there is no risk of transmission. While waiting for an undetectable viral load it would be recommended to use a condom\/<a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/prep\">PrEP<\/a> to prevent any further risk of transmission.<\/p>\n<p>When your girlfriend has a viral load below 200\/undetectable there will be no risk of transmission via sex.<\/p>\n<p>Josh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My girlfriend tested positive when she was 6 months pregnant.
