{"id":25698,"date":"2024-12-22T17:44:15","date_gmt":"2024-12-22T17:44:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/i-base.info\/qa\/?p=25698"},"modified":"2025-01-12T23:48:50","modified_gmt":"2025-01-12T23:48:50","slug":"new-diagnosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/i-base.info\/qa\/25698","title":{"rendered":"Can someone who was diagnosed with a low CD4 count recover fully?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello and many thanks for getting in touch.<\/p>\n\n<p>How are you coping with your diagnosis?<\/p>\n\n<p>People living with HIV who are diagnosed late can have a very low CD4 count.<\/p>\n\n<p>This is not uncommon.<\/p>\n\n<p>The way to deal with this is to take your medication (ARVs) on a daily basis and to take any preventative medication the doctors give you.<\/p>\n\n<p>Usually, the doctors prescribe co-trimoxazole, fluconazole and possibly some other antibiotics to prevent and treat infections until the immune system is robust again and the CD4 count grows above 200 cells\/ml.<\/p>\n\n<p>Please do not worry.
