This is a side effect called peripheral neuropathy and it is very common with the use of stavudine. For more information about peripheral neuropathy please follow this <a href=\"https:\/\/i-base.info\/guides\/side\/peripheral-neuropathy\">link<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Changing treatment to zidovudine is a very good idea and the sooner you change the better as it is more likely to reverse some of the peripheral neuropathy if it is caught quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Other things you can try are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Avoid tight fitting shoes and socks which restrict blood circulation.<\/li>\n<li>Keep your feet uncovered at night \u2013 keeping them cooler and out of contact with sheets or bedding.<\/li>\n<li>Try deep tissue massage.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t walk or stand for long periods.<\/li>\n<li>Soak your feet in cool water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My current HIV drugs are:<br \/>\nstavudine+lamivudine+efavirenz<\/p>\n<p>Due to the stavudine my feet are giving me pain and I cannot walk bare foot in my home.<\/p>\n<p>Can I change to lamivudine+zidovidine+efavirenz?
