There are many couples in your situation where one partner remains uninfected even though they have sex without using condoms for years.<\/p>\n
Can I ask if your wife is on treatment, and if she is, what her viral load is? This is because, studies have shown that if the positive partner in a relationship is on treatment and has an undetectable viral load, it reduces their risk of transmitting HIV to their partner. However, even though the risk is low, there is still some risk, and as such the recommendation is to use condoms.<\/p>\n
The other reason I ask whether your wife is on treatment is because, it is recommended that she should be on treatment as she is pregnant. This is important because she needs to have an undetectable viral load by the time she delivers. An undetectable viral load at the time of delivery is the best way to reduce the risk of transmission of HIV to the baby.
