I am British, have a NI number and a home both in England and abroad, another EU country. My work is hectic and I am constantly travelling. My tax and NI contributions are all paid in the other EU country where I also continue to receive my HIV treatment. In other words, I am fiscally resident abroad. Because of my hectic travelling lifestyle, over the past few years I have found it easier to go to an HIV clinic in London for minor problems than to go to the hospital where I receive my medication.
\nAm I legally able to receive treatment (not talking about the medication for HIV) in UK even though I pay into another EU country’s health system? It may seem like a silly question but quite frankly, being quite old fashioned with this sort of thing, the worry of whether I am doing the right thing or not, or being caught out stops me from getting certain medical problems seen to. The situation quite simply, is that I pay and am a resident of A, work mostly in B and C but find myself mostly in D when I have a few days off. D being my country, the one I am a passport holder of.
