Q and A

Question

Missed meds, will I be OK?

I have been undetectable for 11 years. I now take Genvoya every day and am usually very good at taking my meds on time. However, in the past year I have forgotten to take my mediation about six times, but have always taken it the next time either 24 or 36 hours later. I worry that this has affected me. Should I be worried?

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

Missing your meds 6 times during the course of a year won’t have any effect on your CD4 count, nor your viral load. Therefore, this isn’t something that you need to worry about. If you were however doing it on a regular basis, this could put you at risk.

    Hi Maretha,

Because you’re pregnant its very important that you take ARVs. Therefore, yes, please restart your meds. You should discuss this with your doctor.
