UK PROUD study to provide PrEP earlier than expected: planned follow-up in this HIV prevention study to continue for two years

On 16th October, UK researchers announced an important change in the PROUD study. Participants in the deferred group will soon be able to use PrEP earlier than expected. [1]

If taken daily, Truvada provides close to 100% protection against HIV.

This is because of an early safety result showing that PrEP clearly works when used by gay men in the UK at high risk of HIV.
