Q and A

Question

With an undetectable viral load mean I might test HIV negative?

I test HIV positive years ago and after I took my treatment after my viral load was low, and still now is low so I want to know  is it possible if my viral load is low and I go to test for HIV and result be negative while I\'m still taking my treatment ?

Answer

Hi

Even with undetectable viral load, HIV tests will still be positive.

This is because HIV tests look to see if you immune systems has responded to HIV. Even if you were cured of HIV, the HIV test would still be positive.

    Hi Amie,

When someone is HIV positive they will always test positive for HIV.

Hi, me and my partner we tested negative using home tests. However, I’ve heard rumors that he’s positive, but on treatment. Is this why he tested negative?
