Q and A

Question

Can babies be given solids when they are 6 weeks old?

Am breastfeeding exclusively, my baby is on Neverepine. He’s 6 weeks old, can I feed him porridge?

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

Feeding guidelines for babies vary depending on where it is that someone lives. In the UK babies are introduced to solids once they are 6 months old. Babies who are 6 weeks old shouldn’t be given solids as they aren’t ready to have them. Also giving solids to babies born to positive mothers at this young age increases the risk of them being positive.
