What are ARVs and ART?

What are ARVs?

ARVs is short for antiretrovirals.

ARVs are HIV drugs because HIV is a retrovirus.

What is ART?.

ART stands for antiretroviral treatment.

This is a combination of two or three active ARVs.

Sometimes these drugs are combined in a single pill.

Some ARVs need a booster drug. Either ritonavir or cobicistat is used to increases the levels of another drug.

Seeing people get better on ART is

without a doubt the most extraordinary

thing I have ever seen.

It made me become an activist.
