Many HIV conferences provide a platform for a community statement focused on an aspect of care, often widely endorsed by other organisations.
For the Glasgow 2022 conference, this included a statement on issues affecting people living with HIV as we age that had been developed at the IAS conference in the Summer.
In many Western countries, more than half of people living with HIV are already older than 50.
The statement, formulated as a short manifesto, calls urgently for new collaborations to ensure equitable health outcomes for ageing and older people living with HIV, for HIV care, quality of life and empowerment.
