Question

Can i come to the UK and study if i have HIV?

I am a student from abroad. I want to study in the UK but have HIV. Is this possible?

Answer

Hi,

Yes you can! The UK has no restrictions on the entry of stay of people who have HIV. Once you are here you are also entitled to free HIV treatment and care, whatever your immigration status is.

If you do come an you are already on treatment make sure you bring a few weeks of medication with you. This is because sometimes it can take a little while to get registered with a clinic.

Hi Ifran, yes you can study abroad. Being HIV positive should not impact your ability to study internationally.

You can use this website to check the travel regulations of where you would like to go: https://hivtravel.org/Default.aspx?PageId=143&CountryId=190

In the UK treatment can be accessed for free regardless of residency status.
