Question

I left my meds in a car will they be OK?

I left my arvs -efav-teno-lamivudine inside the car at the passengers seat (inside its bottle and inside my bag) for about 2-3 hours in the parking lot under the heat of the sun about 28-30degrees celsius temperature in our city during those hours. Will my arvs potency and efficacy be affected? I am quite worried because of this stupid mistake. Hope to hear a reply

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

There’s no need to panic, your ARVs will be fine. They’ll still do what they need to do, which is help with your HIV.

Hi Fall Guy, thanks – 6 months in a hot care is a long time. This sounds like a good time to take the old meds back to your pharmacy and to get a new supply.

Hello. I left my Truvada in the car for 6 months. It was in the bottle. I live in Nigeria where it gets really hot. Will the medicine still be effective?
