Q and A

Question

How do I tell my family about my status?

Hi, I’ve been on Tribuss now for 3 months. I’m doing really well. The thing is I want to tell my family about my status but I don’t know how. What should I do? And thanks for your site, its been really helpful.

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch,

There isn’t really an easy answer to this question as it all depends on the type of relationship that you have with your family, as too does the level of knowledge that they may have about HIV.

Being prepared to answer their questions may help, as well as letting them know that you’re OK. This could be important.

I know that this can be a hard thing to do, but if you feel like you need to share this with them, then do. Only you really know how to do this.

Best of luck.

I don’t think u have to tell your family about your status the only person should know is your husband and your doctor who already knows because he diagnose Iran’s he is giving u the medication, people who don’t understand the situation might just make u feel worse than u really are and they might not keep the matter confidential, if you need to talk seek counseling from professional councillors who u can confide in are just stick with I-base they are doing a good job it’s your life some people don’t have to know take ur meds cheer up smile and be happy life goes on
