Q and A

Question

Why have I been given Ilvitrim?

I went to the clinic because I had diarrhoea and was given Ilvitrim. How does that go hand in hand with diarrhoea?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

Ilvitrim is a brand version of Co-trimoxazole. It is an antibiotic which can be used in the prevention or treatment of certain infections. Most often it is used prophylactically in people with low CD4 counts to prevent infection.

Co-trimoxazole can also be used to treat diarrhoea after eating/drinking something contaminated. How is the diarrhoea now that you have started this?

Josh.
