Why do i-Base ask for detailed information when we ask questions?
Answer
The experience of HIV is unique to everyone – how you become HIV positive, how you have experienced living with HIV, what treatment you use, do you have other health conditions, where are you?….For this reason, to be able to answer questions suitably we may need to ask for more information.
- All personal info is treated in confidence.
- Questions can be answered privately or online.
- Online questions are only posted with permission.
- Even if answered online, personally identifiable info is edited out.
i-base is not asking for more information than we need. It is important to know as much as we can to make sure we are giving the most appropriate information to yourself.
How much information you want to share is entirely your decision. But the more you share, the better answers we can give. Sometimes the questions we ask may seem not relevant or a little odd but it’s all to give the most tailored response. For how specific the experience of HIV can be, so must the questions and answers we share.
i-base has a ‘18 top questions‘ page. This is a great start for finding information but sometimes your question may be slightly different and need a more specific answer.
Understandably some information you may not feel comfortable sharing online. Our Q&A service lets you choose if you want to share your question online. If you choose not to we will still provide the same level of service to yourself but without positing it online – the decision is all yours.
