Will the new electronic NHS system disclose my status?

My question is when the NHS move to electronic records will my HIV status be seen by all whom treat me or will this information be still on a need to know basis. Has my right to confidentiality been removed since I have informed no one including my GP? My understanding is that this electronic record will be able to be accessed by my GP and also A & E. What’s the score please help me understand this thanks you.

Your confidentiality should be maintained even with the use of the new electronic filing system. Any files kept by your HIV clinic are for your HIV clinic only. You should speak to your HIV doctor about this and stress the importance of them maintaining your confidentiality when you are referred for any tests or to your GP etc.
