Question

Who can I call if I am thinking of suicide?

Answer

In the UK, contact the Samaritans.
Tel: 08457 90 90 90 (24 hours)

The website includes information on how to contact them by email, letter and face-2-face.

Even though it may feel very traumatic, an HIV diagnosis should not be so bad that you think of suicide.

Treatment means you can lead a long and normal life, and if other problems in your life are difficult, then seeking expert support for these is really important.

The US National Suicide Prevention Hotline isĀ 1-800-273-8255. Eight helplines for South Africa are linked here.

Phone lines in over 60 other countries are linked from this page.
