Question

Will a cure be ever discovered?

Please, give me a true answer whether a cure will never be discovered, as the HIV medications are expensive and ar a major source of income for the pharmaceutical companies and also there are lots of politics involved because of money donated for AIDS?

Answer

You are right that HIV medications are a major income for some of the pharmaceutical companies and that much politics is a part of the HIV work.

What you do not take into account though, is that there are also many scientists in the academic institutions where in some cases the commercial interests are not that important. In addition, there are also community organisations and leaders who are very versed in treatment and research and they lobby for new treatments and often serve as watchdogs, pushing for the best research agenda.

Finally, the company or whoever, invents and produces the cure will benefit financially a lot, as there are many people who need and will buy the cure. I strongly believe that one day a cure will be produced.

I’ve been told once you contract HIV, it becomes a part of your DNA and that you can’t alter your DNA, so a cure cannot happen. But never say never, I suppose.
    Here’s hoping.
