Question
Hepatitis B risk…
6 January 2010. Related: All topics, Complications and coinfections.
I am a heterosexual man with HIV. I recently slept with a woman and although we used a condom for sex, I am worried about hepatitis B.
Should I be concerned?
Answer
All HIV-positive people should be tested for hepatitis A, B and C when diagnosed and routinely after this (usually annually).
Vaccination is recommended routinely against hepatitis A and B for HIV-positive people.
It would be better to follow these guideline now rather than worry about any possible exposure in the past.
