I’m positive and concerned about my life expectancy. I am though on treatment and look after myself.

This is a Q that we get asked often. This is understandable due to the number of people who died in the early years of the epidemic.

The good news is that modern HIV treatment (called ART) lets people lead long and healthy lives. For people who are diagnosed early and who have access to ART, HIV is now a very manageable health condition.

So long as you are careful with your meds your life expectancy should be similar to before you became HIV  positive.
