Are the enlarged lymph nodes always painful?
Do they appear after seroconversion and how long do they last?
Answer
Enlarged lymph nodes can be caused by many reasons, including HIV, but but also, and more usually, other types of infection.
Enlarged lymph nodes are sometimes tender, or painful, and sometimes not. Any symptoms that cuases pain should be something to talk to your doctor about.
Enlarged lymph nodes are only one symptom relating to a recent HIV infection. Only about 60% of the newly infected people have any so-called seroconversion ‘illness’. The rest may not have any particular symptoms at all.
