Question

What are the statistics?

What are the statistics for people getting infected with HIV after having bareback penetrative sex – a positive man being the active partner and a negative man being the passive partner?

Answer

Nobody can answer that question as nobody has done this kind of research worlwide. Not only, even nationally. In fact, it is impossible to collect this kind of statistics.

If you are talking about the risk, however, then there are many factors playing a role here. Among the most important of those are the viral load of the positive partner and whether either of the partners has another STI.

There is some information on how to reduce the risk here.
