Q and A

Question

What can I take to boost my CD4 count?

Can I take promune if I’m HIV positive to boost my cd4 count?

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

If you’re on medication, you’re already doing the best thing possible for your HIV. This is because only ARVs can increase a persons CD4 count. If you aren’t on medication, then you’ll need to start. https://i-base.info/guides/starting

    Hi Baddy,

Do you not have access to HIV treatment (ART)? What does your doctor say about this? Please let us know more.

    Hi Phumzile,

If you’re issues having issues with your sight, this will need to be discussed with a doctor. HIV meds aren’t supposed to do this.

    Hi Sbusiso,

Have you tested HIV positive? If so, do you have access to ART? And do you have access to your CD4 count and viral load results? Please let us know.

ART and PrEP are use differently. ART is used to treat people who are HIV positive. PrEP is used if you are HIV negative and want protection against HIV.

If you live in South Africa you could try the Treatment Action Campaign for information about access to HIV meds.
