Q and A

Question

Does late testing work?

If someone didn’t get tested for HIV 3 years after they have had unprotected anal sex could there be a chance it is too late and they have AIDS?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

The only way to know if someone has HIV is by going for a test. Taking an HIV test has to be the first step and the results will determine what the next course of action will be. The tests in the UK are free, easy to do and very accurate. They are available at all GUM sexual health clinics.

Lastly, even if someone was diagnosed with AIDS, if they started taking HIV treatment that situation can easily be reversed.
